Injuries.

Hillcrest Chiropractic in Gresham Oregon has an understanding of what to do after an automobile collision occurs that can save you time, money, and future impairment.

A prompt comprehensive history and physical examination is essential to determine the severity and scope of your injuries.  An examination by an experienced chiropractic physician is recommended to determine the presence or absence of sustained injuries.

Serious structural injuries are not always evident immediately after a traumatic event.  Symptoms from a motor vehicle collision may take days to weeks, and even months to manifest.  Chiropractic Physicians are well qualified to detect, diagnosis, and treat a variety of musculoskeletal and nervous system injuries.

Patients injured by traumatic events have special needs due to the violent and non-physiological stresses placed on the musculoskeletal system.  Injuries to bones, ligaments, muscles, nerves, and even organ structures are very common.  Dr. Thomas is trained to recognize injuries that need an immediate referral when present.

Medical-legal concerns

When treating a traumatically injured patient, the treating physician also needs to be aware of the medical-legal concerns that are associated with these types of injuries. What this means is that the chiropractic physician in charge of your treatment understands that they may be called upon in the future to offer an opinion regarding your injuries. The treating physician must be skilled at the documentation of your injuries, treatment, progress, and limitations (if any).  The decisions by the treating physicians must be evidence based, reasonable and customary.  In reality, not all physicians are prepared to participate in these types of cases because of the additional work, responsibility, and accountability required.

Dr. Thomas welcomes the challenge of your case and possesses the training and experience necessary to guide you through the different phases of healing. Learn more about Dr. Thomas here.
